...and everyone got on a frenzy to get to level 70.

While a guy in France was able to achieve such a dubious goal in 28 hours of straight play, most of the rest is taking a little more time getting there.

One of the things people told me when the xpac was coming and I was unsure about the future of the game and the guild I am member of was: "Wait until the expansion comes, it will change everything"... and so it did.

Well, personal opinion, xpac came with more of the same (in terms of social connotations within the game). When we were a guild of mostly 60s, we were never interested in helping the low level players, now we are a guild full of soon-to-be 70 who cares very little besides the reaching of the levelling goal. And that is fine, at least while we all get to 70... so we can get back to... the old times... With just one caveat, with the size of the raiding instances reduced to 25 players, the opportunity to really integrate guild members into guild raids will suffer greatly.

In We Know we used to have the weekly raids, MC and Ony every week; it was a ritual, 40 members getting together to accomplish something bigger than each one. Now that will be reduced to 25 members doing that, so the raid will fill more quickly and the cliques will get in place faster. Will the guild progress as a whole raid? I doubt it, every time we tried more than 1 20-man raids at the same time we (as a guild) always failed.

So here we are, the grinding to level 70 at full speed; some groups getting closer together and enjoying the grind; some casual players left as when they were low level toons in a guild full of 60.. waiting to get there. With only one exception, we have already been there and now the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't look as bright as it seems.

So sad and so true. We Know used to be a We Know people, now it's just we bitch a lot.

It depends on what you want out of your guild. I suspect most people would be happy with a high end raiding only guild. Leave them lowbies to fend for themselves. We Know appears to have been founded on different ideals however. Many of us want to try building a community, to see how we can extend and enhance the game. Campfire lore tales is a prime example. Its pretty simple group sociology though, as the guild expands in numbers, so must it dilute its purpose.
Finding a balance between numbers and purpose is probably practically impossible. I would not fret that there are people who 'don't get it', but i would identify those that do, and spend your time with them, Lowbies and new members who do get it should organically find us who like to help and try new things.

Also, at the end of the day, its a game, and if you are looking for more from a medium that primarily used by 12 year olds for pwntastic funtimes then you ought to resign yourself to be at least occasionally disappointed.

You are right: "We Know appears to have been founded on different ideals". Regretfully, the ideals it was founded upong seem to have been lost.

And yes, I am ready to be dissapointed from time to time, and that is why I move forward!
