How do we play?
It has been brought to my attention these past few weeks the amount of arguments about what should be considered good and bad behavior in game Vs. what the game allows the player to do.
Some of the discussions are around PvP (Player Vs. Player) practices such as graveyard camping and killing anyone flagged regardless of their level. Other discussions are related to loot rules in raids and instance runs; who should get what and why. And another category has to do with PvE (Player Vs. Environment) actions; is it OK to tag all mobs just to make sure I get the profits of the killings?
All arguments I’ve followed end up in the same basic dilemma: one side saying “the game allows the action”, the other side saying “that action is un-ethical”.
As such, the dilemma will never get resolved. Personally, I am all for clear playing ethics, I always follow the rule of not doing to somebody else what I don’t want to be done to myself. And that proves to work fine most of the time. That doesn’t mean that I don’t make mistakes or that I don’t got cheated from time to time. Anyhow, those times are small prices to pay for me feeling good about my gaming.
